김석규 교수는 학문연구에 대한 열정과 사명감으로 후학 양성과 체육학 발전에 기여한 공로로 연구상을 수상했다.
2018년 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 스포츠과학과에 부임한 김석규 교수는 유도 국가대표선수로 활약하며 91년 아시아선수권대회, 94년 히로시마 아시안게임, 95년 헝가리 월드컵대회 등 다양한 국제경기대회에서 입상했다.
MBC스포츠 해설위원(2008 베이징 올림픽, 2012년 런던 올림픽, 2016 리우 올림픽) 등으로 활동하고 있으며, 스포츠마케팅을 기반으로 한 전반적 스포츠산업에 대한 연구를 해 오고 있다.
