이날 신년인사회는 백인규 의장을 비롯한 전체 의원, 이강덕 시장과 간부공무원, 김정재·김병욱 국회의원, 경북도의원, 전직 시의원 등 100여명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.
참석자들은 새해 덕담을 나누고 의정철학을 담은 성화약진(成和躍進:성과와 화합으로 한걸음 더 도약하고 나아가다)이 새겨진 시루떡을 자르며 2024년 포항시의회 의정 운영 방향과 비전을 공유했다.
백인규 의장은 신년인사 통해“지난 한해 우리는 많은 어려움 속에서도 함께 힘을 모아 이차전지와 수소, 바이오.헬스 등 다양한 신산업 분야에서 실질적이고 가시적인 성과를 거두며 지역발전의 큰 틀을 만들어왔다”며, “갑진년 새해에는 이러한 성과들이 더 큰 결실을 맺고 비약적인 변화와 발전이 이루어 질 수 있도록 힘과 지혜를 모아나가야 한다”고 강조했다.
이어 “올 한해 포항시의회는‘성화약진’의 자세로 시민과 함께하며, 적극적인 현장의정과 전문성 및 정책역량 강화, 소통과 협치의 의정활동을 통해 포항의 미래비전을 제시하고, 지역발전과 시민복리증진을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”며 각오를 다졌다.
한편 포항시의회는 오는 1월 19일부터 26일까지 8일간 새해 첫 임시회를 열고 본격적인 의정활동에 들어갈 예정이다.
