【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시가 방치된 빈집들을 자원으로 한 정비 사업에 속도를 내고 있는 가운데 11일 행복황촌 도시재생 거점시설인 마을호텔 ‘행복꿈자리’에서 ‘외국인관광도시민박업 내국인 숙박 특례 전환’ 현판식을 개최했다.

시에 따르면 이번 사업은 관광진흥법령에 따라 외국인만 가능하던 숙박에서 도시재생을 위해 설립된 마을기업에 한 해서 내국인도 숙박할 수 있게 관련법이 개정되면서 본격화됐다.
이날 마을호텔 ‘행복꿈자리’ 외에도 블루플래닛, 황오여관, 스테이황촌 등 마을호텔 3곳이 함께 내국인 숙박 특례전환 현판을 받았다.
이를 기념하기 위해 이날 행사에는 주낙영 경주시장과 정수경 행복황촌 협동조합 이사장을 포함해 마을주민 40여명이 참석했다.
이번 ‘외국인관광도시민박업 내국인 숙박 특례전환’은 경북 1호이자 전국 2호로 이날 현판식은 그간 성과를 격려하기 위해 마련됐다.
특히 이날 내국인 숙박 특례전환 현판을 받은 마을호텔 4곳 외에도 경주맨션, 황오연가 등 9곳이 상반기 중 마을호텔 등록을 준비하고 있어 도시재생 마중물 역할을 톡톡히 할 것으로 기대된다.
이곳들은 모두 방치된 빈집 활용사업의 일환으로 마을호텔로 전환하면서 지역 상권 회복과 빈집 정비의 일석이조 효과가 예상된다.
정수경 행복황촌 협동조합 이사장은 “조합원들이 운영하는 마을호텔의 수익의 일부가 마을의 발전을 위해 다시 환원되는 선순화 구조를 마련하게 됐다”며 “경주시의 적극적인 지원으로 행복황촌이 경주 로컬여행의 명소로 성장해 지역경제 활성화에 기여할 수 있도록 더욱 노력하겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “2025년 APEC 정상회의 경주유치와 5천만 경주관광의 시대에 도시재생 사업지구 내 국·내외 관광객을 맞이할 수 있는 마을호텔이 들어서 기대가 모아진다”며 “주민들이 운영하는 마을공동체 사업이 경주관광과 지역경제 활성화에 도움이 될 수 있도록 관심을 가지고 지속적인 지원을 하겠다”고 강조했다.
