한수원, 사용후핵연료 건식저장사업 기술정보교류회의 개최

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력(사장 황주호, 이하 한수원)이 8일, 9일 양일간 부산 라발스호텔에서 ‘사용후핵연료 건식저장사업 기술정보교류회의’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 회의는 한수원을 비롯한 규제기관(한국원자력안전기술원, 한국원자력통제기술원)과 건식저장사업에 참여하는 설계사 등 사업관계자 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

경수로 사용후핵연료 건식저장사업 현황 및 계획, 건식저장시설과 용기의 설계개념, 규제체계 및 안전조치 등 다양한 주제에 관해 논의했다.

건식저장사업에 참여하는 관계자가 한자리에 모인 것은 이번이 처음으로, 건식저장시설 및 용기의 설계와 인허가 방향 등 각종 기술정보를 교류하는 뜻 깊은 자리였다.

또한, 이번 회의를 통해사업관계자들의 이해도를 높이고, 소통 체계를 구축해 앞으로 건식저장사업이 보다 안전하고 효율적으로 추진될 수 있는 기틀을 다졌다는 데 의의가 있다.

한수원은 이번 회의를 출발점으로 원전 주변 지역주민과 지자체 등을 대상으로건식저장사업의 추진현황과 안전성 등에 관한 정보를 지속적으로 공유해 건식저장사업이 적기에추진될 수 있도록 총력을 기울인다는 방침이다.

황주호 한수원 사장은“앞으로도 지역주민의 안전과 안심을 최우선으로, 보다 투명하고 신뢰할 수 있는 건식저장시설을 만들어 나가기위해 최선을다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (CEO Hwang Joo-ho, hereinafter referred to as Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power) announced that it held the ‘Spent Nuclear Fuel Dry Storage Project Technology Information Exchange Meeting’ at the La Valse Hotel in Busan for two days on the 8th and 9th.

A variety of topics were discussed, including the current status and plans for the dry storage project for light water reactor spent nuclear fuel, design concepts for dry storage facilities and containers, regulatory systems, and safety measures.

This was the first time that officials involved in the dry storage business gathered in one place, and it was a meaningful event to exchange various technical information, such as the design and licensing direction of dry storage facilities and containers.

In addition, this meeting is significant in that it increased the understanding of business stakeholders, established a communication system, and laid the foundation for dry storage projects to be promoted more safely and efficiently in the future.

Starting from this meeting, KHNP plans to make every effort to continuously share information on the progress and safety of the dry storage project with local residents and local governments around the nuclear power plant so that the dry storage project can be promoted in a timely manner.
