설립타당성 사전평가는 공립미술관 설립을 위한 필수 행정 절차로 지난 1월 문화체육관광부에 신청서를 제출, 3월 서류심사 및 4월 현장실사와 최종심사를 거쳐 적정 통보를 받았다.
이번 설립타당성 사전평가 통과는 김해시와 지역 문화예술계의 상호 협력의 결과로, 시민들에게 더욱 풍부한 문화적 혜택을 제공할 것으로 기대한다.
김해시 구산동 김해종합운동장 내에 조성되는 미술관은 4개 층, 연면적 5,590㎡의 규모로 지어질 것이며, 뛰어난 접근성을 바탕으로 체육과 예술을 동시에 즐길 수 있는 복합문화공간 될 것이다.
김해시립김영원미술관은 광화문 세종대왕 조각가이자 김해 한얼 중·고등학교 출신인 김영원 작가와의 협업을 바탕으로 추진됐다.
