당시 우크라이나와 최대 격전지인 바흐무트 공략에 앞장서온 러시아 바그너 그룹은 엊그제 3일 바흐무트 행정 중심 지역을 완전히 점령했다. 부서진 시 의회 건물로 추정되는 장소에 러시아 국기가 휘날리는 영상도 인터넷에 올라옴으로써 점령을 인증했다. 전통적인 전쟁이나 전투 개념으로 보면, 한 도시의 시 의회와 시청, 그리고 시 중심가 점령은 시청에 점령군의 국기를 게양하여 인증하는 것으로 사실상 끝난다. 그 이후는 잔당들을 소탕하는 작업인데 이 정도면 사실상 시의 90%를 장악한 것이나 다름 없다.
