【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력(사장 황주호, 이하 한수원)은 황주호 사장이 지난 9월 29일(현지시간) 세계원자력사업자협회(World Association of Nuclear Operators, 이하 WANO)에서 주관하는 격년총회에 참석해 원자력발전소의 산업안전 관리 노하우를 공유했다고 30일 밝혔다.

WANO는 체르노빌 사고 이후 원자력 안전성 향상을 위해 1989년 설립된 원자력 분야 최대 민간 국제단체다. 이번 격년총회는 24일부터 일주일간 아부다비에서 개최돼 전 세계 원전 운영사 경영진들이 모여 산업계 원전 성능향상을 위한 상호 협력을 도모했다.
이 자리에서 황주호 사장은 WANO 도쿄센터를 대표해 발전소 산업안전 사고 발생을 방지하기 위해 한수원이 수행해 온 다양한 개선 사업을 소개하고 그 성과를 발표하며, 경영진들의 끊임없는 개선 의지의 중요성을 강조했다. 또, 이어진 토론에서는 글로벌 원전 산업계 주요 인사 5명과 함께 상호 경험 사례와 견해를 나누며, “수준 높은 안전관리 체계가 산업계 전반으로 확대될 때까지 적극적으로 협력하겠다”고 의지를 밝혔다.
한편, 이번 격년총회에서는 원전 산업계의 발전에 이바지한 젊은 유공자들을 위한 라이징 스타(Rising Star) 시상식도 함께 진행되었으며, 한수원 중앙연구원 최양호 차장이 수상의 영예를 안았다.
황주호 한수원 사장은 “전문 엔지니어 육성을 위한 회사의 노력이 대외적 성과로 나타나고 있는 것 같다”며, “앞으로도 국제 사회에서 인정받는 글로벌 인재 배출을 위해 최선을 다할 것”이라고 각오를 다졌다.

Hwang Joo-ho, CEO of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Shares Nuclear Power Plant Operation Know-how at World Association of Nuclear Operators General Assembly
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) announced on the 30th that CEO Hwang Joo-ho attended the biennial general assembly hosted by the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) on September 29 (local time) and shared his know-how on industrial safety management of nuclear power plants.
WANO is the largest private international organization in the nuclear power sector, established in 1989 to improve nuclear safety after the Chernobyl accident. This biennial general assembly was held in Abu Dhabi for a week starting on the 24th, and brought together executives of nuclear power plant operators from around the world to promote mutual cooperation for improving the performance of nuclear power plants in the industry.
At this event, CEO Hwang Joo-ho, representing the WANO Tokyo Center, introduced various improvement projects that KHNP has been carrying out to prevent industrial safety accidents at power plants, announced the results, and emphasized the importance of executives’ will to continuously improve.
