나라의 정신인 한글이 1446년 반포되어 578돌을 맞은 한글날 다음 날 10일 소설가 한강이 아시아 출신 여성 최초로 2024년 노벨문학상을 수상자로 발표되었다. 이는 한글 탄생 578년을 품은 민족의 쾌거이다. 세계 모든 나라의 언론은 다투어 속보를 전하였으며 날이 갈수록 심층적인 뉴스로 상세한 내용을 알리고 있다

또한, 한국 숭실대학에서 문학박사를 받은 한국문학에 조예가 깊은 쿠마키 츠토무 텐리대학 국제학부 교수는 최근 몇 년 동안 한국문학이 큰 주목을 받아 일본은 물론 전 세계에서 번역되고 있다면서 한국의 한강 작가의 노벨문학상 수상 선정 이유에 대해 솔직히 아직 어리다는 인상을 받았기 때문에 놀랐다면서 한국 사회의 가혹한 역사와 사건을 다룬 소설도 있지만, 사람들이 살아가는 방식과 상처받는 방식을 그려내면서 아픔을 공유하는 태도는 정치적일 뿐만 아니라 높은 평가를 받는다고 생각한다는 선정 이유를 설명하였다.
