동국대 와이즈캠퍼스 ‘경주, 공감문화 상생플랫폼 도시’ 인문도시사업단이 개최하는 이번 인문주간 축제는 10월 17일 오후 3시 동국대 와이즈캠퍼스 원효관 글로벌에이스홀에서 개막식을 갖는다.
이날 개막식은 류완하 동국대 와이즈캠퍼스 총장과 주낙영 경주시장이 참여하여 동국대와 경주시와의 업무 협약 체결, <인문도시 경주> 공식 선포가 진행될 예정이다.
개막식에 이어지는 제 2부 인문강좌에서는 명사초청강연으로 정보라 작가를 초청하여 ‘SF와 공감’을 주제로 강연을 진행한다. 정보라 작가는 <저주토끼>, <지구 생물체는 항복하라> 등의 소설집을 펴낸 작가로, 2022년 부커상과 2023년 전미도서상 번역문학 부문 최종후보에 오른 바 있다.
홍은숙 동국대 와이즈캠퍼스 인문도시사업단장은 “동국대 인문도시사업단은 경주의 잘 알려지지 않은 인문 자산을 발굴(Mining)하고, 지역 사회와 네트워크를 통해 인문 자산을 연결하고 콘텐츠화하여(Mapping)하여, 인문자산을 아카이빙(Archiving)하는 가운데 경주를 공감문화 상생플랫폼 도시로 구현하려는 포부를 갖고 있다. 그 시작으로 개최하는 전국의 HK사업단과 인문도시사업단이 참여하는 인문주간(인문축제)에 많은 참여와 관심을 바란다”고 밝혔다.
교육부와 한국연구재단이 주관하는 인문도시지원사업은 대학·지역사회의 네트워크를 통해 지역 인문 자산을 발굴하고, 관련 프로그램을 개발하여, 대학과 지역민이 함께 하는 인문학 대중화 사업이다. 동국대 와이즈캠퍼스는 올해 9월부터 2027년 8월까지 3년간 5억원을 지원받아 경주시와 함께 ‘경주, 공감문화 상생플렛폼 도시’ 사업을 진행하고 있다.

Dongguk University WISE Campus Humanities City Project Group Opens Humanities Week
Dongguk University WISE Campus (President Ryu Wan-ha) Humanities City Project Group (Director Hong Eun-sook) is hosting a Humanities Week Festival.
The opening ceremony of this Humanities Week Festival, hosted by the Dongguk University Wise Campus ‘Gyeongju, Empathy Culture Symbiotic Platform City’ Humanities City Project Group, will be held at 3 PM on October 17th at the Dongguk University Wise Campus Wonhyo Hall Global Ace Hall.
Dongguk University Wise Campus President Ryu Wan-ha and Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young will attend the opening ceremony, where the business agreement between Dongguk University and Gyeongju City will be signed and <Humanities City Gyeongju> will be officially declared.
The second part of the Humanities Lecture following the opening ceremony will feature invited lectures by renowned speakers, including author Jeong Bo-ra, who will give a lecture on the topic of ‘SF and Empathy.’ Author Information Ra is the author of <Cursed Rabbit> and <Earth Creatures Surrender>, and was a finalist for the 2022 Booker Prize and the 2023 National Book Award for Translated Literature.
Hong Eun-sook, the director of the Dongguk University Wise Campus Humanities City Project, said, “The Dongguk University Humanities City Project aims to discover (Mining) Gyeongju’s little-known humanities assets, connect and transform them into content (Mapping) through local communities and networks, and archive humanities assets, while realizing Gyeongju as a city of empathy and mutual growth platform. As a start, we hope for much participation and interest in the Humanities Week (Humanities Festival) held by HK projects and Humanities City Projects nationwide.”
The Humanities City Support Project, hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, is a project to popularize humanities through the university-local community network, develop related programs, and conduct the project with universities and local residents. Dongguk University Wise Campus is receiving 500 million won in support for three years from September of this year to August 2027 and is carrying out the ‘Gyeongju, Empathy Culture Symbiotic Platform City’ project with Gyeongju City.
