부영그룹 무주덕유산리조트가 국내 최초로 노르딕 스키스쿨을 운영하며 동계 스포츠의 활성화와 저변 확대에 나선다.
노르딕 스키는 바이애슬론, 크로스컨트리, 스키점프 등으로 구성된 종목으로, 스키부츠의 앞쪽은 바인딩에 고정되고 뒤꿈치는 떨어져 있어 평지에서 걷거나 뛰기에 용이하다. 이 스포츠는 체력과 기술을 동시에 요구하지만, 한국에서는 접하기 어려워 여전히 비인기 종목으로 남아 있다.
무주덕유산리조트는 스키장을 찾는 고객들이 다양한 동계 스포츠를 체험하며 노르딕 스키의 매력을 느낄 수 있도록, 스키학교 강습장에 450m의 노르딕 전용 코스를 조성하고 국내 스키장 최초로 노르딕 스키스쿨을 운영하기로 결정했다.
노르딕 스키스쿨은 국가대표 상비군 출신의 김고은 코치가 지도한다. 김 코치는 노르딕 스키의 대표 종목인 크로스컨트리와 바이애슬론을 섭렵하며, 전국동계체전 바이애슬론 6관왕을 기록한 바 있다. 바이애슬론 국가대표 상비군으로 다수의 국제대회에 출전한 그는 노르딕 스키 및 스포츠에 대한 높은 전문성을 바탕으로 체계적이고 전문적인 스킬을 전달할 예정이다.
부영그룹 무주덕유산리조트 관계자는 “노르딕 스키는 누구나 즐길 수 있는 스포츠로, 많은 사람들이 이 기회를 통해 새로운 도전을 경험하길 바란다. 노르딕 스키 스쿨은 개인의 수준에 맞는 맞춤형 프로그램으로 운영하여 참가자들이 노르딕 스키에 대한 자신감을 키우고, 동계 스포츠에 대한 흥미를 증진시켜 동계 스포츠의 활성화에 기여할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”라고 전했다.
무주덕유산리조트 스키장은 노르딕 스키스쿨 운영 외에도 이번 시즌 최초로 스키/보드 전용 슬로프 운영과 리프트 시간권 도입 등 고객 중심의 운영 방식으로 호평을 받고 있다.

Buoyoung Group's Muju Deoksan Heritage Resort will operate the first Nordic ski school in Korea to revitalise and expand winter sports.
Nordic skiing is a sport comprising biathlon, cross-country, ski jumping, and other disciplines in which the front of the ski boot is fixed to the binding and the heel is separated to facilitate walking or running on flat ground. The sport requires both physical strength and skill, but it remains unpopular in Korea because it is difficult to access.
Muju Deok Heritage Resort decided to build a 450-metre Nordic course in the ski school training area and operate a Nordic ski school for the first time in Korea so that visitors to the ski resort can experience a variety of winter sports and feel the charm of Nordic skiing.
The Nordic Ski School will be led by Coach Kim Go-eun, a former member of the Korean Armed Forces. Kim is a six-time biathlon champion at the National Winter Games, having also competed in cross-country and biathlon, two of Nordic skiing's signature disciplines. He has competed in many international competitions as a member of the national biathlon team and will deliver systematic and professional skills based on his high expertise in Nordic skiing and sports.
‘Nordic skiing is a sport that anyone can enjoy, and we hope that many people will take this opportunity to experience new challenges. The Nordic Ski School will operate a programme tailored to each individual's level to help participants build their confidence in Nordic skiing and increase their interest in winter sports, contributing to the revitalisation of winter sports.’
In addition to the Nordic Ski School, the Mujuduk Heritage Resort ski area has been praised for its customer-centric operations, including the introduction of ski/board-only slopes and lift passes for the first time this season.
