[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시와 전라남도, 여수시 2026여수세계섬박람회조직위원회는 '부산광역시-여수세계섬박람회' 성공 개최 및 해양협력 강화를 위한 업무협약을 13일 체결했다.
이날 협약식에는 박형준 시장과 김영록 전라남도지사, 정기명 여수시장, 박수관(조직위원장) 와이씨텍(YC Tec) 회장 등 관계자 40여명이 참석했으며, 박람회 성공 개최와 남부권 해양경제벨트 구축을 위한 다양한 협력방안이 논의됐다.
‘2026여수세계섬박람회는 세계 최초로 ‘섬’을 주제로 한 국제 박람회로, ‘섬, 바다와 미래를 잇다’를 주제로, 2026년 9월 5일부터 11월 4일까지 61일간 여수 진모지구를 중심으로 개도, 금오도 등 인근 섬 일원에서 개최된다. 조직위는 30개국이 참여하고 300만 명 이상의 관람객이 방문할 것으로 예상한다.

부산~전남 간 연안 크루즈는 2012 여수세계엑스포 당시 운항됐던 남해안 연안 크루즈를 이번 협약식을 계기로 재운항하고 양 도시의 해양관광 자원을 연계한 관광상품 개발도 추진한다.
한편, 부산시는 박람회 성공개최를 위해 ‘비짓부산’ 등 가용 자원을 활용한 사전홍보와 공동 마케팅을 적극 전개하고, 섬·해양 관광 활성화를 위한 실질적인 협력방안을 지속적으로 마련해 나갈 계획이다.
