브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 박민영 국민의힘 대변인은 11일 더불어민주당 새 원내대표 후보인 김병기 의원의 부인과 국정원 기조실장 간 채용 청탁 정황이 담긴 녹취록이 공개된 것과 관련, 진상규명이 필요하다고 밝혔다.
박 대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 "어젯밤 MBC가 김병기 의원의 부인이 국정원 기조실장에게 채용 청탁을 한 정황이 담긴 녹취록을 공개 보도했다"며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "녹취에서 김 의원의 부인은 '이번에도 프로세스만 필요하다고 해서 믿고 있었다'며 '실장님께 무슨 확답을 듣지 못하면 안 될 것 같다'고 말했고, 기조실장은 '경력직 해 가지고 추가로 인원을 뽑을 것, 원장님께 보고드렸다'고 답했다"라며 "이미 이전에도 채용 청탁이 있었으며, 거듭 낙방한 뒤 '확답'이 필요하다며 또다시 청탁을 의뢰한 것이다. 해당 통화가 있은 넉 달 뒤, 김 의원의 아들은 기조실장이 언급한 경력직 전형으로 국정원에 합격했다"고 주장했다.
이어 "그럼에도 김병기 의원은 자신이 피해자라며, 오히려 국정원에 답변을 요구하고 나섰다"며 "2014년에 신원조사에서 탈락했는데 2017년에 합격했다면 둘 중 하나는 잘못된 결과 아니냐는 궤변을 늘어놓고 있다"고 꼬집었다.
또한 "2014년에 탈락했다가 부인의 청탁 직후인 2017년에 합격했다면, 당연히 2017년 결과가 잘못된 특혜라는 것은 명백한 상식"이라며 "국정원에서 일하다 국회의원이 된 김병기 의원의 부인이 국정원 기조실장과 아들의 채용 관련 통화를 했다는 사실만으로도 중대한 잘못이다. 부인이 '믿었다'는 표현까지 써가며 압력을 행사한 정황이 드러난 이상, 김 의원 역시 책임에서 자유로울 수 없다"고 비판했다.
박 대변인은 "이재명 정권의 첫 원내대표가 취업난에 허덕이는 청년들의 가슴에 비수를 꽂는 채용 비리 정치인이 되어선 안 된다"며 "김병기 의원은 즉각 원내대표 경선에서 사퇴하고, 진상 규명 결과 책임이 드러난다면 스스로 공언한 대로 의원직에서도 물러나야 한다"고 촉구했다.
아울러 국정원을 향해서도 "신속한 진상규명을 강력히 요구한다"고 했다.
