박형준 부산시장과 지용훈 대우제약 대표가 23일 오전 10시 40분, 사하구에 위치한 대우제약 본사에서 ‘부산공장 증설 투자 양해각서(MOU)’를 체결했다.
이번 협약은 부산시가 올해 8조 원 이상 투자유치 목표를 내건 가운데, 지난 5월 기준 총 3조 원을 돌파한 데 이어 또 하나의 성과로 기록됐다.
대우제약은 이번 협약을 통해 2027년까지 본사 유휴부지에 총 500억 원을 들여 연면적 6,403㎡ 규모의 첨단 생산기지를 조성한다. 이곳에는 주력 품목인 안과용 점안제를 비롯해 안과 전문의약품 제조 설비가 들어설 예정이며, 기존 생산능력 대비 약 60% 이상 증설돼 안정적 공급 기반을 확보하게 된다.
신규 인력 100여 명도 채용될 예정이며, 이 중 대부분은 지역 대학 출신으로 구성돼 부산의 고용창출 효과도 기대된다.
박형준 시장은 이날 현장을 방문해 직접 MOU를 체결하고, 생산시설을 둘러봤다. 1976년 부산에서 창립된 대우제약은 50년 가까이 지역에 뿌리를 두고 성장해온 향토 제약기업이다. 아울러, 국내외에서 경쟁력을 인정받은 안과용 점안제를 중심으로 200여 종의 전문의약품을 생산하고 있다. 최근에는 위탁생산(CMO) 확대와 제형 기술 고도화를 통해 글로벌 시장 진출도 적극 추진 중이다.
