세종충남대학교병원이 소아 응급환자 진료 공백 최소화를 위해 주 2회 24시간 진료를 시행한다. 의료진 이탈로 축소됐던 야간 진료가 일부 복원되면서, 세종 시민과 인근 지역 보호자들의 우려가 다소 해소될 전망이다.

소아전문응급의료센터는 그동안 전담 전문의 인력의 부재로 인해 밤 10시부터 다음날 오전 10시까지의 야간 진료를 한시적으로 제한해왔다. 하지만 최근 의료진 1명을 새롭게 충원하면서 주 2회에 한해 24시간 진료를 다시 시행할 수 있는 여건이 마련됐다.
이에 따라 소아전문응급의료센터는 평일·주말 구분 없이 매일 오전 10시부터 오후 10시까지의 주간 진료는 유지되며, 추가로 수요일과 토요일에는 밤 시간대까지 포함한 24시간 진료 체계로 운영된다.
세종충남대학교병원은 세종시를 비롯해 인근 지역민들의 불안과 불편 해소를 위해 소아전문응급의료센터 전문의 추가 충원을 지속해서 진행하는 만큼, 조속한 시일 내에 365일, 24시간 정상 진료 체계를 운영할 수 있도록 최선을 다할 방침이다.
