[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산광역시는 세계 최대 전력반도체 분야 학술대회인 ‘제22회 국제탄화규소학술대회(ICSCRM 2025)’가 오는 9월 14일부터 19일까지 해운대 벡스코에서 개최된다고 밝혔다.
이번 대회는 미국·유럽·일본 외 지역에서는 최초로 열리는 대회로, 대한민국에서는 처음으로 부산에서 개최되는 점에서 큰 의미가 있다.
국제탄화규소학술대회(ICSCRM: International Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials)는 1987년 시작된 세계 최대 규모의 전력반도체 분야 학술행사로, 2022년 9월 스위스 다보스에서 열린 제19회 대회에서 부산이 2025년 개최지로 최종 확정된 바 있다.
이번 ICSCRM 2025에는 전 세계 40여 개국에서 약 2,000여 명의 산학연 전문가들이 참가해 ▲재료 ▲결함·특성 ▲소자 설계·공정 ▲포장 ▲응용 ▲신뢰성 등 탄화규소(SiC) 분야의 주요 연구 성과를 공유한다. 이와 함께 세계 150여 개 기업이 전시관을 운영하며 관련 기술과 제품을 선보일 예정이다.
주요 프로그램은 ▲[제1전시장] 전시관·포스터 세션 ▲[컨벤션홀] 특강(튜토리얼), 구두 강연, 갈라디너 ▲[오디토리움] 개막식 및 기조 강연 등으로 구성되며, 9월 14일(일) 웰컴리셉션을 시작으로 본격적인 일정이 진행된다.
기조 강연(Plenary Lectures)은 삼성전자 홍석준 박사, Ohio State University의 Prof. Anant Agarwal, 일본 CRIEPI의 Dr. Hidekazu Tsuchida, 프랑스 CEA의 Dr. Philippe Godignon 등이 맡아, 글로벌 탄화규소 분야의 최신 기술 동향과 전망을 소개할 예정이다.
특히, 이번 대회 기간 중인 9월 17일에는 부산의 전력반도체 선도기업이자 대회 주요 후원사인 ㈜아이큐랩의 본사 및 생산공장 준공식이 함께 개최되어, 산업(기업)–학술(ICSCRM)–지자체(부산시)의 대표 협력 모델로 주목받고 있다.
시는 이번 대회를 통해 ▲국제 기술협력 ▲투자 교류(네트워킹) ▲해외 홍보 등 실질적인 성과를 창출하고, 부산이 ‘글로벌 전력반도체 허브 도시’로 자리매김할 수 있도록 적극 지원할 계획이다. 현재 시는 안전관리계획 수립 및 최종보고회 준비 등 대회 운영을 위한 절차를 차질 없이 진행 중이다.

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the “22nd International Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials (ICSCRM 2025),” the world’s largest academic conference in the power semiconductor field, will be held at BEXCO in Haeundae from September 14 (Sun) to 19 (Fri), 2025.
This marks the first time the conference will be hosted outside the U.S., Europe, and Japan, and it will also be the first time it is held in Korea, making the event particularly significant.
The International Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials (ICSCRM) began in 1987 and has since become the world’s largest academic event focused on silicon carbide (SiC) and related technologies in power semiconductors. Busan was officially selected as the host city for ICSCRM 2025 during the 19th conference held in Davos, Switzerland, in September 2022.
Approximately 2,000 experts from academia, industry, and research institutions across 40 countries are expected to participate in ICSCRM 2025. The conference will feature the latest research outcomes in the field of SiC, including ▲materials ▲defects & properties ▲device design & processing ▲packaging ▲applications ▲reliability. In addition, more than 150 global companies will operate exhibition booths at the venue.
Key programs of the conference will be held at the following BEXCO locations: ▲[Exhibition Hall 1] Exhibitions & Poster Sessions ▲[Convention Hall] Tutorials, Oral Presentations, Gala Dinner ▲[Auditorium] Opening Ceremony & Plenary Lectures. Plenary lectures will be delivered by distinguished speakers including Dr. Seokjun Hong of Samsung Electronics, Prof. Anant Agarwal of The Ohio State University, Dr. Hidekazu Tsuchida of CRIEPI (Japan), and Dr. Philippe Godignon of CEA (France), who will provide insights into global trends and future directions in silicon carbide technologies.
Notably, during the conference on September 17, a completion ceremony for the new headquarters and production facility of IQ Lab Co., Ltd.—a leading power semiconductor company in Busan and one of the event’s main sponsors—will be held. This will serve as a representative model of collaboration between industry (corporate), academia (ICSCRM), and local government (Busan City).
