브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= ㈜LG가 주주가치 제고를 위해 대규모 자사주 소각과 중간배당을 동시에 추진한다.
㈜LG는 28일 공시를 통해 보유 중인 자기주식 보통주 302만 9,580주를 오는 9월 4일 소각한다고 밝혔다. 소각 규모는 약 2,500억 원으로, 이는 전체 발행 보통주의 1.93%에 해당한다. 앞서 지난 4월에도 분할 과정에서 발생한 자사주 6만여 주를 소각한 바 있으며, 이번 소각 이후 잔여 자기주식 302만 9,581주도 2026년까지 전량 소각할 계획이다.
자사주 소각은 발행 주식 수를 줄여 주당순이익(EPS)을 높이는 효과가 있어 배당과 함께 대표적인 주주환원 정책으로 꼽힌다.
이와 함께 ㈜LG는 사상 첫 중간배당도 실시한다. 보통주와 우선주 모두 1주당 1,000원이 지급되며, 배당 기준일은 9월 12일, 지급일은 9월 26일이다. 중간배당 규모는 약 1,542억 원에 달한다.
㈜LG는 지난해 기업가치 제고 정책을 발표하며 배당성향 상향(50%→60% 이상), 중간배당 도입 등을 약속한 바 있다. 실제 올해 초에는 순이익 감소에도 불구하고 전년과 동일한 배당금을 지급해 배당성향 76%를 기록했다.
또한 안정적 경영권 유지와 배당 재원 확대를 위해 자회사 지분 매입도 단행했다. 지난해 11월부터 올해 3월까지 LG전자와 LG화학 주식 총 5,000억 원어치를 사들여 LG화학 지분율은 30.06%에서 31.52%로, LG전자 지분율은 30.47%에서 31.76%로 각각 높였다.
㈜LG는 장기적으로 2027년까지 연결 기준 자기자본이익률(ROE)을 8~10% 수준으로 끌어올린다는 목표다. 이를 위해 AI·바이오·클린테크(ABC) 등 신성장 분야에 집중 투자해 미래 가치를 강화한다는 계획이다.
