[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 조규일 진주시장이 24일부터 26일까지 ‘2025 세계지방정부연합 아시아·태평양지부 총회(UCLG ASPAC)’에 공식 초청연사로 참석해 ‘청년 리더십’을 주제로 발표했다.
이번 총회에는 220개 지방정부에서 500여 명이 참여했으며, 진주시는 ‘청년과 함께 제3의 기적을 만들어가는 진주시의 가치와 비전’을 소개했다.
조 시장은 진주가 임진왜란 당시 진주대첩 승리와 대기업 창업주 배출이라는 두 차례 기적을 이룬 도시임을 강조했다.
이어 그는 하늘을 나는 자동차(AAV) 생산기지, 우주항공 국가산업단지 조성, 초소형 위성 발사 등 첨단 산업 전략을 통해 ‘제3의 기적’을 실현하겠다고 전했다.
또 조 시장은 ‘진주 K-기업가정신’을 바탕으로 청년들에게 지역 정체성과 자긍심을 심어주고 창업 인프라를 확대해 양질의 일자리를 창출하겠다는 의지를 피력했다.
특히 조규일 시장은 고양특례시 이동환 시장과의 간담회에서는 두 도시의 교류와 협력 강화 방안도 논의됐다.
