[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시가 대한민국 방위산업의 핵심 기술 자립화를 위한 산·연 협력의 새 역사를 축하했다. 장금용 창원특례시장 권한대행은 22일 한국재료연구원 본원에서 열린 ‘한화재료공동연구센터 현판식’에 참석해 창원시가 대한민국 첨단 소재 기술의 요람임을 재확인했다.
이날 행사에는 최철진 한국재료연구원 원장, 윤삼손 한화에어로스페이스 항공사업부 CTO 등 산·학·연 관계자 100여 명이 집결해 연구센터 설립에 대한 높은 기대감을 드러냈다.
‘한화재료공동연구센터’는 특히 해외 의존도가 절대적인 니켈·티타늄 등 첨단 항공엔진 핵심 소재의 국산화를 목표로 한다. 이를 통해 유·무인기 엔진 소재의 원천기술을 확보하고, K-방산의 심장부인 항공엔진 분야에서 완벽한 기술 자립을 이룬다는 야심찬 계획이다.
국내 최고 소재 전문 연구기관인 한국재료연구원과 K-방산을 선도하는 한화에어로스페이스는 이 센터를 통해 공동연구, 기술협력, 인력 교류 등 지속적이고 체계적인 연구 협력 플랫폼을 구축할 예정이다.
