고양특례시가 민간기업과 함께 수도권 최대 자연형 습지인 장항습지 보전에 나섰다.
고양시는 지난 10일 일산서구 장항동 람사르 고양 장항습지생태관에서 '장항습지 생태계 보전을 위한 에쓰오일(S-OIL) 후원금 전달식'을 개최했다고 11일 밝혔다.
이날 행사는 고양시와 S-OIL, 한강유역환경청이 2021년 체결한 장항습지 보전 업무협약(MOU) 이후 네 번째로 진행된 것으로, 민관 협력을 통해 습지의 생태 건강성과 생물다양성을 높이기 위한 자리였다.

전달식에는 이동환 고양시장, 류열 S-OIL 사장, 홍동곤 한강유역환경청장, 유영한 에코코리아 이사장 등이 참석했다.
S-OIL은 이날 후원금 1억 원을 고양시에 전달했으며, 이 금액은 장항습지 생태계 보호 활동과 생태관 운영 등에 사용될 예정이다.
이동환 고양시장은 "고양시는 장항습지를 중심으로 ESG와 에코노믹스의 실천 모델을 확립하고 있다"며 "S-OIL과 같은 기업의 참여는 환경보전과 지역경제가 함께 성장하는 G-에코노믹스의 모범사례가 되고 있다"고 말했다.
