최효숙 경기도의원, 곡란초 IB월드스쿨 인증 선포식 참석

경기도의회 최효숙 의원(더불어민주당, 비례)이 지난 12월 10일 곡란초등학교에서 열린 ‘IB월드스쿨 인증 선포식’에 참석해 학생과 교직원, 학부모 등 교육공동체를 격려하고 IB 교육의 출발을 축하했다.

이번 선포식은 곡란초등학교가 국제 바칼로레아(IB) 교육과정 인증을 공식적으로 획득한 것을 기념하는 자리로, 학교가 그동안 추진해 온 교육과정 혁신의 성과를 공유하기 위해 마련됐다.

최효숙 의원은 축사를 통해 “IB 인증은 학교 구성원 모두가 함께 노력해 이뤄낸 결과”라며 “아이들이 스스로 질문하고 탐구하는 학습을 통해 배움의 폭을 넓혀갈 수 있기를 기대한다”고 말했다. 이어 “꿈꾸고 도전하며 배움을 즐길 수 있는 환경을 만드는 것이 경기 미래교육의 방향”이라며 “IB 교육을 통해 학생들의 학습 경험이 지역을 넘어 세계로 확장되길 바란다”고 덧붙였다.

또한 최 의원은 “학교 현장의 창의적인 교육 시도가 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 경기도의회도 지속적으로 관심과 지원을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

이날 행사에는 경기도교육청 홍정표 제2부교육감을 비롯해 교육지원청 관계자, 군포시 및 군포시의회 관계자, 지역 인사들이 참석했으며, IB 추진 경과 보고와 인증서 전달, 교육공동체 대담, 인증 선포식 및 테이프 커팅 등의 순서로 진행됐다.

곡란초등학교는 이번 IB월드스쿨 인증을 계기로 학생 중심의 탐구형 수업을 강화하고, 세계시민 역량을 갖춘 미래 인재 양성에 본격적으로 나설 계획이다.

Expecting to Create a Future-Oriented Learning Environment Based on IB Education

Gyeonggi Provincial Council Member Choi Hyo-sook (Democratic Party of Korea, proportional representation) attended the "IB World School Certification Ceremony" held at Gokran Elementary School on December 10th. She encouraged the educational community, including students, faculty, and parents, and celebrated the launch of the IB program.

This ceremony commemorated Gokran Elementary School's official acquisition of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum certification and was designed to share the achievements of the school's ongoing curriculum innovations.

In her congratulatory remarks, Council Member Choi stated, "IB certification is the result of the collaborative efforts of everyone at the school. I hope that children will broaden their learning horizons through inquiry-based learning." She added, "Creating an environment where children can dream, challenge themselves, and enjoy learning is the direction of Gyeonggi's future education. I hope that through IB education, students' learning experiences will expand beyond the region and into the world." Councilman Choi also stated, "The Gyeonggi Provincial Council will continue to provide interest and support to ensure that creative educational initiatives in schools can take root."

The event was attended by Hong Jeong-pyo, Second Deputy Superintendent of Education of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, officials from the Office of Education, Gunpo City and the Gunpo City Council, and local dignitaries. The event included a progress report on the IB program, the presentation of certificates, a discussion with the educational community, a certification proclamation ceremony, and a ribbon cutting.

With this IB World School certification, Gokran Elementary School plans to strengthen its student-centered, inquiry-based curriculum and actively pursue the development of future talent equipped with global citizenship.
