이번 조치는 시민들의 이용 편의와 가족 단위의 독서 활동을 함께 높이기 위한 것이다.
서변숲도서관은 1인당 도서 대출 권수를 기존 5권에서 10권으로 확대한다. 다자녀 가족 회원의 경우 1인당 최대 20권까지 빌릴 수 있다.
도서관 측은 가족이 함께 책을 고르고 읽는 일상적인 독서 문화를 지원하겠다는 취지라고 설명했다.
또한 평일 종합자료실 운영 시간도 기존 오후 8시에서 오후 10시로 2시간 늘어난다. 이에 따라 낮 시간 이용이 어려웠던 직장인과 학생들도 더 여유롭게 도서관을 찾을 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
운영 안정화를 위해 자료실 보조 인력도 새로 채용한다. 이를 통해 현장 서비스 품질을 높임과 동시에 지역 일자리 창출 역시 도모할 계획이다.
서변숲도서관 관계자는 “이번 개관 시간 연장과 대출 권수 확대로 시민들이 도서관을 더욱 편리하게 이용하길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 시민 수요를 적극 반영해 생활밀착형 도서관 서비스를 확대하겠다”고 말했다.
