포항 시민단체 “경북·대구 졸속·하향 통합 중단” 촉구

포항지속성장시민위원회(포성위)는 20일 성명을 통해 지역 국민의힘 국회의원들과 이철우 경북도지사를 향해 “주민 여론을 경청하는 숙의 과정부터 시작하라”고 요구했다. 포성위는 “220만 경북도민의 미래를 좌우할 사안을 공론화 없이 추진하는 것은 위험한 행정”이라고 밝혔다.

포성위는 전날 대전광역시의회와 충청남도의회가 충남·대전 행정통합 특별법안에 대해 나란히 반대 의견을 의결한 사례를 언급했다. 또 이장우 대전시장이 주민 여론조사를 검토하겠다고 밝힌 점을 들어, 경북·대구 역시 여론 수렴 절차를 거쳐야 한다고 주장했다.

포성위는 성명에서 ▲국민의힘 소속 경북·대구 국회의원들의 통합 반대 의결 ▲경북도의회와 대구시의회의 반대 결의 ▲이철우 지사의 사과와 책임 있는 조치를 요구했다. 그러면서 “정치적 이해관계에 매몰돼 대의를 외면한다면 지역의 미래를 훼손하는 일”이라며 “통합 추진을 멈추고 원점에서 재검토해야 한다”고 밝혔다.

경북·대구 행정통합을 둘러싼 찬반 논란은 지방의회 대응과 주민 의견 수렴 방식에 따라 더욱 확산될 것으로 보인다.

The controversy surrounding the administrative integration of Gyeongbuk and Daegu is expected to expand further depending on the response of local councils and the method of gathering public opinion.
