옥천군농업인대학은 옥천군 농업을 이끌어 갈 전문농업경영인을 육성하기 위해 추진하는 교육과정으로, 2004년 개교한 이래 지난해까지 운영하여 총 2,199명의 졸업생을 배출하였다.
올해 농업인대학은 지역 특화작목인 복숭아의 경쟁력 강화를 목표로 복숭아학과 1개 과정이 개설되었으며, 총 38명의 교육생이 입학했다.
교육과정은 이번 입학식을 시작으로 약 8개월간 총 17회 내외의 교육이 진행된다. 복숭아 병해충 관리, 기후변화대응 복숭아 안정생산 기술 등 과정별 전문강사를 초빙해 심층적인 이론 교육뿐만 아니라 현장견학을 통해 내실있고 실질적인 소득 향상에 도움이 되는 맞춤형 교육을 운영할 계획이다.
