이날 임시청사 직지실에서 개최된 기탁식에는 이범석 청주시장과 청주대 제59대 ‘JUMPING UP’(점핑 업) 총학생회 김승민 부회장(경영학과 21학번)을 비롯한 재학생 등 10여명이 참석했다.
후원 물품인 라면 1,500개는 최근 진행된 ‘청춘만개’ 행사에서 학생들이 자발적으로 모은 것으로, 시는 해당 물품을 저소득층과 사회복지시설, 특히 중장년 고독사 예방 관련 사업을 추진하는 기관 등에 지원할 예정이다.
청주대학교 총학생회는 “이번 기부는 단순한 물품 전달을 넘어 참여와 연대 문화를 확산하기 위한 ‘참여형 나눔 프로젝트’의 일환”이라며 “앞으로도 지역사회와 함께하는 지속적인 사회공헌 활동을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
이에 이 시장은 “대학생들의 자발적인 나눔 실천이 지역사회에 큰 울림을 주고 있다”며 “이러한 따뜻한 마음이 취약계층에게 큰 힘이 될 것”이라고 화답했다.
한편 청주대 총학생회는 지난달 충북대학교, 서원대학교 등 청주권 대학과 함께 무심천 일대 환경정화 봉사활동(플로깅)을 진행하는 등 지역 환경 보호에도 앞장선 바 있다.
