풍요와 성장, 시작의 기운이 넘치는 2021년 임인년 새해가 밝았습니다.
새해 복 많이 받으시기 바라며, 올 한 해는 소망하는 일 다 이뤄지길 기원합니다.

지난해는 코로나19 재확산으로 자영업자와 소상공인을 비롯한 수많은 국민이 경제적으로 정신적으로 힘든 시기를 보낸 한 해였습니다. 정부의 오락가락하는 방역 대책과 연일 늘어나는 확진자는 코로나 종식이라는 희망으로 달려온 이들을 지치게 만들었습니다.
하지만 우리는 이겨낼 수 있습니다. 작은 어촌마을에서 세계 속에 우뚝 선 철강도시로 성장한 지난 포항의 역사가 말해주듯 우리 앞에 불가능이란 없습니다. 좌절하지 않는 용기와 굳은 의지로 함께 힘을 모은다면 반드시 지금의 위기를 극복해 낼 수 있을 것이라 믿습니다.
저 역시 여러분과 함께 새로운 내일을 열어가겠습니다.
우리 포항은 힘든 여건 속에서도 1조 7,132억원의 국비를 확보했습니다. 세포막단백질연구소, 수소연료전지 인증센터, 배터리 순환 클러스터 등 포항의 새로운 미래먹거리의 기반을 마련했습니다. 더 풍요롭고 더 살기 좋은 도시로 만들기 위한 포항시민의 하나 된 힘이 있었기에 가능했습니다. 따뜻한 성원과 격려를 보내주신 포항시민께 다시 한 번 감사드립니다.
2022년 새해에도 시장과 도·시의원 등 지역 일꾼과 함께 힘을 모아 포항 발전을 위해 온 힘을 쏟는 한 해가 되도록 하겠습니다. 더 많은 관심과 성원을 부탁드립니다.

Last year was a year where many people, including the self-employed and small business owners, had a difficult time economically and mentally due to the re-spread of COVID-19. The government's fluctuating quarantine measures and the number of confirmed cases increasing day by day have exhausted those who have been running in hopes of ending the corona virus.
But we can get through it. As the history of Pohang, which grew from a small fishing village to a world-leading steel city, tells us, nothing is impossible before us. We believe that we will be able to overcome the current crisis if we work together with courage and strong will to not be discouraged.
I, too, will open a new tomorrow with you.
Pohang has secured KRW 1.71 trillion in government funds despite difficult circumstances. We have laid the foundation for a new future food in Pohang, including the Cell Membrane Protein Research Center, the hydrogen fuel cell certification center, and the battery cycle cluster. It was possible because of the united power of the citizens of Pohang to make it a more prosperous and livable city. We would like to thank the citizens of Pohang once again for their warm support and encouragement.
In the new year of 2022, we will work together with the mayor, provincial and city councilors, and other local workers to make it a year to put all our energy into the development of Pohang. We ask for more interest and support.
