5선 국회의원을 지낸 김덕룡 사단법인 김영삼 민주센터 이사장이 주성영 후보에 대한 지지를 선언했다.

24일 김영삼 대통령의 최측근으로 알려진 김덕룡 사단법인 김영삼 민주센터 이사장은 대구 민주화 운동 원로들과 함께 주성영 후보의 선거사무소를 방문했다.

김 이사장은 이날 “계속된 초선 국회의원의 당선으로 대구 중·남구는 국회의 지원을 제대로 받지 못했다”며, “이제 중·남구에는 국회에서 힘을 발휘하고, 상임위원장이 되어 중·남구의 문제를 강력하게 해결할 의지를 가진 국회의원이 필요하다”고 말했다.

이어 “이번 보궐선거 출마를 위해 탈당한 다른 국회의원은 당선 후에도 복당이 불가능하다”며 “정권교체와 새 정부에 앞장설 수 있는 무소속 후보는 복당이 가능한 주성영 후보 뿐이다”고 강조했다.

아울러 “새 정권, 새 시대에 17대 18대 국회의원을 지낸 정치 경력 18년의 노련한 주 후보야말로 중남구를 확 바꿀 주성영 후보를 돕겠다”고 선언했다.
