제26회 부천국제판타스틱영화제(BIFAN, 집행위원장 신철)는 특별전 ‘계속된다: 39+1, 한국영화아카데미’를 개최한다.
내년 개교 40주년을 맞는 한국영화아카데미(KAFA, 원장 조근식)의 행보를 기념하고 정리하는 일종의 예고편이 될 특별한 프로그램을 마련한다.
한국영화아카데미는 지난 39년 동안 한국영화를 이끌어온 거장과 미래의 한국영화를 책임질 새로운 재능을 발굴해왔다.
영화 현장과 가장 가까운 곳에서 미래의 가능성을 발견하고 증폭시키며 한국영화에 신선한 기운을 불러일으켰다.
김의석·박기용·이정향‧이현승·임상수·이재용·허진호·봉준호·장준환·김태용·민규동·홍지영·최동훈·부지영·윤성현·조성희·김의석·이옥섭 감독(이하 기수 순) 등을 배출하며 한국을 대표하는 영화학교로 명성을 이어왔다.
이번 특별전은 한국영화아카데미의 다채로운 면모 중에서도 장르적 시도와 성과에 주목한다.

영화제 기간 ‘관객과의 대화’(GV)는 물론 KAFA 감독들이 함께 자리해 제도권 밖, 대안적 영화 교육기관으로서 KAFA의 역할을 비롯한 한국영화의 오늘에 관해 이야기를 나누는 등 다양한 행사도 마련할 예정이다.
박지완․조성희․김의석․엄태화․허정 등 한국영화의 최전선에서 각자의 장르를 만들고 있는 감독들과 이들 작품에 출연한 류준열․박정민․변요한․전여빈 등 현재 한국영화를 대표하는 얼굴들의 시작을 확인하는 흥미로운 자리가 될 것이다.
BIFAN의 모은영 프로그래머는 “39년의 시간에 또 하나의 시간이 더해져 만들어질 40년 한국영화아카데미의 새로운 모습을 응원한다”면서 “2023년 본격적으로 진행될 40주년 행사의 시작을 알리는 첫걸음으로 이번 특별전을 마련했다”며 “39+1, 미래의 재능을 만들어가는 한국영화아카데미의 시간은 앞으로도 계속 될 것”이라고 기대를 밝혔다.
