브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 최태원 SK그룹 회장이 27일 오전(현지 시각) 미국 워싱턴D.C.에 있는 한국전쟁 기념공원 ‘추모의 벽’ 제막식에 참석해 참전용사들의 희생을 기리고 유족을 위로했다.
SK에 따르면 최 회장은 이날 한국전쟁 정전일을 맞아 열린 ‘추모의 벽’(Wall of Remembrance) 제막식 행사에 공식 초청을 받아 참석했다. 추모의 벽은 한국전쟁 참전 기념공원에 미군과 카투사 전사자들의 이름을 새긴 조형물로 한국정부 예산 지원과 SK그룹 등 기업과 민간 모금 등으로 건립됐다.
최 회장은 이날 행사장에서 참전용사 유가족들을 만나 헌신과 희생에 감사의 뜻을 표했다. 특히 ,최 회장은 한국전쟁 참전 영웅으로 한국전쟁 기념공원 건립을 이끌었던 故윌리엄 웨버 대령의 부인 애널리 웨버 여사를 만나 허리 숙여 손을 맞잡고 희생에 감사의 뜻을 표하고 위로했다.
