(브레이크뉴스인천 문광수 기자) 부천시가 ‘2022 부천레지던시’에 참여할 입주작가 2명을 선정했다.
부천시 창의도시팀은 올 3월 전세계 창의도시를 대상으로 레지던시에 참여할 입주작가(문학, 번역, 만화, 그래픽 노블 등)를 모집, 28개국 30개 도시 75명이 지원했다.
부천시는 활동분야 및 성과, 인지도, 한국 문화 대한 관심, 창의도시에 관한 이해도 등의 심사기준에 따라 서면심사와 심사위원단의 평가를 거쳐 5명을 선정하고 화상 인터뷰를 진행했다.
올해 3번째로 진행되는 이번 레지던시는 창의도시 네트워크가 강조하는 창의 영역 간 경계를 넘어 활동할 수 있는 역량 등을 우선 선정기준으로 하되, 올 11월 개최되는 제2회 디아스포라 문학상 콘셉트에 맞는 배경 및 작품 활동 경력을 갖춘 작가에게 가산점을 주고 심사했다.
화상인터뷰 결과 최종 선정된 입주작가 2명은 안젤라 상마 프랜시스(영국)와 트리샤 박(미국)이다.
안젤라 상마 프랜시스(Angela Sangma Francis)는 방글라데시계 영국인이면서 아동문학 작가로 국내에도 잘 알려진 어린이 도서 ‘에베레스트’, ‘아마존강’의 저자이다.
영국 Flying Eye Books을 통해 출간된 작가의 5권의 아동 도서는 17개 언어로 번역되었고 다수의 해외 어린이 문학상을 받았다.
트리샤 박(Tricia Park가)은 국제음악계에 널리 알려져 있는 바이올린 연주자로 한인 디아스포라의 삶을 주제로 작품을 준비 중이며 작년 부천레지던시 협업작가로 참여하기도 했다.
작가는 문학창의도시인 아이오와 시티에서 문학과 음악을 연계한 여름 축제를 10여 년 이상 기획하여 아이오아 시티의 상징적인 행사로 이끌었다.
이러한 경력은 문학 창의도시인 부천의 또 다른 창의 자산인 음악(부천 필하모닉 등)과 협업을 강화할 수 있는 촉진자 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
두 작가는 오는 11월(예정) 개최될 디아스포라 문학상 시상식과 부천 부천국제포럼에도 참여하여 토론을 진행한다.
입주작가는 거주기간 약 7주 동안 부천시청 인근 오피스텔에 거주하면서 집필과 리서치 활동을 할 계획이다.
유네스코 문학창의도시 간의 대표 협업 사업 중 하나인 레지던시 사업은 작가에게 창작 생활 공간을 지원하고 작품 활동을 돕는 교류 협력 사업으로, 해외 작가를 초청해 부천시를 국외에 알리고 부천의 문화 가치를 높이기 위해 마련됐다.

Bucheon City has selected two resident artists to participate in ‘2022 Bucheon Residency’.
The Bucheon Creative City Team recruited resident artists (literature, translation, cartoon, graphic novel, etc.) to participate in residency for creative cities around the world in March this year, and 75 applicants from 30 cities in 28 countries applied.
The city of Bucheon selected five people and conducted a video interview after a written examination and evaluation by a panel of judges based on the evaluation criteria such as field of activity and performance, awareness, interest in Korean culture, and understanding of the Creative City.

Tricia Park is a violinist widely known in the international music scene and is preparing her work on the theme of the life of the Korean diaspora.
In Iowa City, a city of literary creativity, she has been planning summer festivals that link literature and music for more than 10 years, leading to a symbolic event in Iowa City.
It is judged that this career of her can serve as a facilitator to strengthen collaboration with music (Bucheon Philharmonic, etc.), which is another creative asset of Bucheon, a city of literary creativity.
The two writers will participate in the Diaspora Literary Award Ceremony to be held in November (scheduled) and the Bucheon International Forum in Bucheon to conduct discussions.
The resident artist plans to write and research while living in an officetel near Bucheon City Hall for about 7 weeks.
The Residency Project, one of the representative collaboration projects among UNESCO Creative Cities of Literature, is an exchange and cooperation project that supports writers with creative living spaces and helps them to work.
