[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 진해지역 주민들의 숙원사업인 진해변전소 옥내화 사업 추진이 본격화 돼 자은동 주민의 주거환경개선과 삶의 질을 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
창원특례시는 30일 진해구 자은민원센터에서 진해변전소의 옥내화 사업 착공식을 가졌다.
이날 착공식에는 홍남표 창원특례시장, 이달곤 국회의원, 조남기 한국전력 경남본부장, 박춘덕 도의원, 이종화?최정훈?김수혜 시의원, 조동제 자은동 주민자치회장 등이 참석했다.
진해변전소는 1983년 설치돼 진해지역 전력을 공급하는 중요한 역할을 하고 있었지만, 전자파 피해 우려와 도시미관 저해 등으로 꾸준히 옥내화사업이 요구됐다.
이번 옥내화 사업을 통해 연면적 2,403㎡(지하1층, 지상3층) 규모의 도심형 옥내 변전소로 거듭나 진해구 지역의 안정적인 전력공급을 책임진다.
홍남표 시장은 “지역 주민의 숙원사업인 진해변전소 옥내화 사업을 신속하고 안전한 공사 추진을 하겠다"며 "2023년 12월 개통예정인 제2안민터널과 자은3지구~풍호동 간 도로개설사업을 통해 자은지구가 창원의 새로운 중심으로 거듭날 수 있도록 최선을 다 할 것이다”고 밝혔다.
