(브레이크뉴스인천 문광수 기자) 부천시가 21일 이민진 작가의 ‘파친코’(신승미 번역, 2022년 인플루엔셜 출판)를 제2회 부천디아스포라문학상 수상작으로 선정했다고 밝혔다.
부천시에 따르면, 부천디아스포라문학상(이하, 문학상)은 부천시가 유네스코 문학 창의도시 네트워크와 함께 문학을 통해 세계의 연대와 환대, 협력의 세상을 만들기 위해 제정한 국제문학상으로 시상식은 오는 11월 23일 부천아트센터에서 열릴 예정이며 수상작을 집필한 작가는 5천만원, 번역가는 1천만원의 상금을 받게 된다.
제2회 문학상 심사위원회는 문학평론가인 정과리 심사위원장(연세대 교수)을 필두로 박해현(前문학전문기자, 문학평론가), 송기형(前 건국대 불어불문학과·영상영화학과 교수), 정하연(이화여대 통번역대학원 교수), 조선정(서울대 영어영문학과 교수) 심사위원이 참여했다.
추천위원회는 8개 언어권(한국어, 영어, 독일어, 러시아어, 불어, 스페인어, 일본어, 중국어) 문학전문가로 구성됐으며 명단은 공개하지 않는다.
수상의 영예를 안은 ‘파친코』는 미국에서 2017년에 출판됐으며 애플TV에서 드라마화되어 우리에게 친숙한 작품이며 일제강점기~1980년대를 배경으로 4대에 걸친 자이니치의 방대한 이야기를 속도감 있는 서사와 시점의 전환, 냉정하고 정제된 문장으로 수난의 가족사를 품격 있게 그려냈다는 평을 받았다.
특히, 이전 작품은 한국문인협회 부천지부에서 추천한 작품이어서 더욱 의미가 깊다.
심사위원회는 심사평을 통해 “ ‘파친코’의 절박한 생존 이야기는 19세기말 모국 조선의 고난을 암시하면서 동시에 어쩔 수 없는 이유로 정처를 잃고 낯선 땅들을 떠도는 불우한 운명에 처한 전 세계 유랑민의 ‘디아스포라’를 대표한다. 작가는 ‘인간을 인간답게 하는 건 무엇인가’라는 질문을 시종 던지며, 내가 삶에 대해 가치 있는 존재가 될 때, 삶도 내게 가치 있다는 사실을 일깨운다. 그 점에서 ‘파친코’는 고결성을 주제로 한 소설이다”고 선정 사유를 밝혔다.
한국의 독자들에게 다양한 국가의 문학을 소개하고 한국문학을 외국에 알리기 위해 수여하는 번역가 시상은 한국에‘파친코’를 알리는데 기여한 절판된 판본의 이미정 번역가와 이를 이어 받아 미래의 ‘파친코’를 알리는 중인 개정판의 신승미 번역가에게 공동 수여된다.
