[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 25일 서울 웨스틴 조선에서 ㈜캐스와 대규모 투자협약(MOU)을 체결했다.
이날 투자협약은 경제성장률 하락과 내수시장 부진 등 연이은 경제 위기 속에서 기업의 대규모 투자유치로, 지역 경제의 불황 극복과 일자리 창출에 활력을 불어넣을 것으로 시는 기대하고 있다.
충남 아산에 소재한 ㈜캐스는 항공우주 및 방위산업을 주력으로 하는 K-방산의 유망기업으로, 진주뿌리일반산업단지에 사업장을 이전해 총 600억원을 투자하고 70명의 지역민을 채용할 예정이다.
조규일 진주시장은 “최근 KAI의 FA-50 경공격기 수출 등 K-방산 무기가 세계적으로 인정받고 있다”며“이와 연관된 유망 방산기업이 진주에 투자한 것은 큰 의미가 있다”고 말했다.
한편, 진주시는 지난 2월 ‘2022년 투자유치 기본계획’을 수립해 기업유치에 총력을 기울인 결과 현재까지 1500억원의 유치성과를 거두고 있다.
