[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 3일 ‘시 청사 유출 지하수 활용사업’을 완료해 연간 상수도 사용량 1만2775톤과 수도요금 약 3800만원을 절약할 수 있게 됐다고 밝혔다.
시 청사 유출 지하수 활용 사업은 시 청사에서 버려지는 지하수를 화장실, 조경용수 등 생활용수로 재활용하는 사업으로 수돗물 사용량 절감 및 탄소배출 저감 효과가 있다.
시에 따르면 이번 사업에 약 2억4000만원이 투입해 유출 지하수를 저장하는 물탱크(120톤 용량), 화장실 위생배관 및 부스터펌프 3대를 설치해 일정한 압력으로 10층까지 안정적으로 유출 지하수를 공급한다고 전했다.
유출 지하수 수질검사는 7월과 10월에 걸쳐 두 번 실시했으며, 검사 결과 음용수 수질기준인 47항목 모두 적합판정을 받아 마시는 물로 사용해도 무방할 정도로 최상 수준인 것으로 확인됐다.
시는 청사 내 모든 화장실 대·소변기에 유출 지하수를 공급하고, 추후 잉여 유출 지하수가 발생하면 조경용수와 바닥분수대 용수 등으로 다양하게 활용할 수 있는 방안을 모색할 계획이다.
