전라선 전주역사 증축 공사 내년초 착수

전주역 증축을 위한 공사가 내년부터 시작된다.

국가철도공단 호남본부는 21일 전주역사의 이용 수요 증대에 따른 공공의 안전과 서비스 수준 향상을 위해 ‘전라선 전주역사 증축 공사’를 내년 초 착수한다고 밝혔다.

새롭게 증축되는 전주역사는 기존 역사를 보존하고 뒤편에 지상 3층, 지하 1층 규모(4,754㎡)에 대합실과 고객 편의시설이 들어선다.

차량 228대를 주차할 수 있는 공간과 복합환승센터와 연계해 역광장 교통혼잡 문제도 해소할 예정이다.

앞서 호남본부는 새로 증축할 전주역의 실시설계를 완료하고 지난 11월 건설사업관리용역과 분야별(건축, 소방) 공사계약을 체결하는 등 공사 착수를 위한 사전 절차를 준비해왔다.

유성기 호남본부장은 “지역 랜드마크가 될 수 있는 명품 전주역사를 건설하고 지역 부가가치 창출에 기여하겠다”고 말했다.
