[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시가 10일 정부세종청사 문화체육관광부를 방문해 시가 구상하고 있는 남부권 광역관광개발 사업 반영을 건의하고, 국비 지원을 요청했다.
정현섭 문화관광체육국장은 이날 현재 문체부에서 추진 중인 남부권 광역관광개발 계획에 마산합포구의 ‘한류테마 인공정원’을 비롯한 관광개발 사업 5건을 반영해달라고 문체부에 건의했다.
또 내년도 광역관광 개발사업에 필요한 행정 절차를 이행하고 선도사업을 추진하기 위해 국비를 지원해줄 것을 요청했다.
남부권 광역관광 개발사업은 남부권의 관광 경쟁력 강화로 국가균형발전에 기여하기 위한 윤석열 정부의 핵심 사업이다.
시는 문체부의 남부권 광역관광 개발계획 수립이 완료되면 내년부터 선도사업과 1단계 사업을 위한 용역을 추진하고, 이후 단계별(1~2단계) 사업 추진을 위해 지속적으로 국비 지원을 요청할 계획이다.
정현섭 문화관광체육국장은 “수요자 중심의 해양관광 인프라 확충으로 지역 경쟁력 강화를 통한 경제 활성화는 물론 동북아 중심도시 창원에 걸맞은 관광 브랜드의 가치를 높일 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
