동유럽과 남유럽을 아우르는 루마니아가 뜨겁다. 지난 5월 12일(금) 밤 8시 30분부터 자정 12시 30분까지 4시간 동안 열렸던 루마니아 갓 탤런트 결승전 우승자인 7살 천재 소년 라레슈 프리사카리우 이야기다.
올해 13회 시즌인 루마니아 PRO TV에서 진행하는 루마니아 갓 탤런트 프로그램은 지난 1월부터 경연이 시작되었다. 지난 1월 9일 7살 천재 소년은 첫 경연 무대에서 준결승에 직행하는 골든 버저를 받았다. 이후 5월 12일 11명의 결승 진출자가 겨룬 결승 무대에서 최종 우승하였다.
보편적으로 노래와 춤이거나 악기 연주와 같은 재능이 선보이는 갓 탤런트 무대에서 7살 소년은 오랜 역사의 시인이거나 문학작품에 담긴 내용을 암기하여 낭송하는 특별한 재능을 선보였다.
소년은 4살 때부터 책을 읽기 시작하였으며 200여 권의 책을 읽은 암기 실력은 천재적이다. 전문가들은 단순한 암기가 아닌 오랜 역사의 행간과 정신을 이해하고 있다는 평가이다. 그는 현재 대중예술학교에 재학 중이며 배우가 꿈이라고 하였다.
7살 천재 소년의 우승에 대하여 역사를 일깨운 신이 내린 재능의 천재라는 옹호와 특화된 교육에 나이에 맞는 어린 시절을 잃어버린 아이라는 비판이 온라인에서 연일 뜨겁게 이어지고 있다.

7살 소년이 낭송한 내용은 루마니아에서 태어나 성장하고 나이든 모든 세대면 누구나 쉽게 그 나이의 지식으로는 도저히 상상할 수 없는 역사적인 내용과 실체를 쏟아냈다.
소년은 첫 무대에서 자신이 태어나 자라고 있는 도시 보토사니 태생의 국민 시인 미하이 에미네스쿠(1850~1889)의 작품 (편지 III)에 있는 루마니아 역사의 영웅으로 평가받는 블라드 3세(1428~1476)의 독백을 낭송하였다.
세계사적 관점에서는 죄인이나 포로를 꼬챙이에 꿰어 죽이는 공포정치의 잔학성이 기록된 인물로 별칭 블라드 임페일러(Vlad the Impaler)가 철괴를 박는 사람이라는 뜻이다. 그러나 슬라브 인종이 주류를 이룬 동유럽과 남유럽의 간극에서 유일한 라틴계 민족인 루마니아 역사에서는 영웅이다. 훗날 드라큘라 이야기가 탄생한 바탕의 인물이다.
루마니아 국민시인 에미네스쿠는 화폐개혁 전 최고액권 1000 레이와 오늘날 최고액 지폐 500 레이의 초상 인물로 존경받는 시인이다. 영국의 셰익스피어가 영어에 영향을 주었던 것처럼 그는 현대 루마니아어의 대부로 평가받는다.

시 헝겊 인형은 2000년 페루 일간 신문 리퍼블리카에 게재되어 가르시아 마르케스가 병상에서 썼던 작별 시 작품으로 알려졌다. 그러나 훗날 조니 웰치라는 복화술 사가 자기 조수를 위하여 쓴 시라는 사실이 밝혀져 논란이 있었다.
소년이 잘못된 옥타비안 팰러의 문장을 낭송한 논란과 함께 연이은 논쟁의 대상이 될 가능성이 있다. 그러나 본질적인 문제는 잘못된 자료가 정정되지 않고 존재한 사실이며 소년이 문장의 내용을 분명하게 이해하고 낭송한 재능과는 무관한 것이다.
