(English) Comments on traditional artist, Kang Keum-bok's work
Painter Kang Geum-bok's work, which depicts pine trees with strong vitality, is evaluated as a masterpiece that combines strength and flexibility. In particular, the meaningful and philosophical consciousness of the artist who has tried to express the 'breath of coexistence' through the dynamic spirituality expressed in the branches of a pine tree in a majestic form stands out. This comes from the imaginative spirit of the artist who desires to express the meaning of strong vitality and sociality that reflected human life through pine trees.
This is why his works, in which both of the dynamism of form and the strong vitality of pine trees are sublimated artistically and his deep lyricism exquisitely harmonize, deeply move us. It is to emphasize the eternity of progress with a heavy and thick brush flow. In other words, it is because the strong vitality of the pine tree, which has overcome all severe trials and always keeps green throughout the four seasons, is melted into his work.
In a word, artist Kang's work is not a visual art that emphasizes merely the aesthetic sense of formativeness, but a work that communicates and preserves the lumpy vitality by sublimating philosophical realization of the essential life of nature and artistic lyricism into a pictorial perspective nature. Furthermore, as It contains a deep artist’s consciousness of ‘must practicing the strong and vital spirit of that pine tree on the drawing paper’ , it gives us a deep impression.
Looking more closely into the artist's work scope to understand his artistic world , the sound of the calm and soft wind embracing old pine permeates into the thick brush actions , and the preciousness of coexistence flows like an eternal breath in every branch that stretch out in the blue sky .
In short, his work contains the deep consciousness of an existentialist painter who depicts the spirit of human life through the gestures of a thousand-year-old pine tree.
