한중도시우호협회측은 8월8일자 보도자료에서 “권기식 한중도시우호협회장은 8일 오전 서울 중구 명동 소재 주한중국대사관에서 열린 중국 정부 초청 '2023 한국 청소년 기자단' 발대식에 참석해 축사를 했다”고 전하고 “권기식 회장은 '한중 관계는 지난 31년간 비약적으로 발전해 교역액은 40배, 인적 교류는 80배가 성장했고, 한국은 지난해 중국의 제 2대 교역국이 되었다'며 '코로나19 팬데믹 이후 3년 만에 재개된 한중 청소년 교류는 한중 우호에 큰 도움이 될 것'이라고 말했다”고 알렸다.
