한울본부에 따르면 방사능방재 전체훈련은‘원자력시설 등의 방호 및 방사능방재대책법’에 따라 발전소별로 매년 1회 실시하고 있으며, 발전소 운영 중 만일의 방사선비상사고에대비하여 국민의 생명과 재산을 보호하고 환경에 미치는 방사선영향 최소화를 목표로 진행된다.
이번 훈련은 지진 발생으로 인한 자연재해에 따라 발전설비 손상 및 소내·외 전원상실을 가정하여 이동형 발전차를 이용한 전원복구 및 오염환자 의료구호 훈련 등을 중점적으로 실시했으며, 원자력안전위원회, 한국원자력안전기술원 및 한국원자력의학원 관계자들의 입회·점검하에 시행됐다.
이세용 본부장은“이번 방사능방재 전체훈련은 신속한 비상 대응조직 가동, 발전소 비상상황 대처, 상황전파 등 방사선 비상 사고에 대한 다양한 비상대응능력과 비상대응설비를점검하는 계기가 되었다”라며 “이 훈련을 계기로 신한울 비상요원들의 비상대응능력이한층 향상되었기를 희망한다”라고 훈련소감을 밝혔다.
