이동환 고양특례시장이 수소충전소 구축을 통해 ‘수소 대중교통 시대’ 본격화에 앞장서며 탄소중립 실천 도시로 도약하겠다는 포부를 밝혔다.
시는 그동안 수소차 보급에 걸림돌로 작용했던 수소충전소 인프라 구축을 위해 올해 대화버스공영차고지를 시작으로, 2026년 말 준공예정인 원당버스공영차고지에 수소충전소를 설치할 예정이다.
이와 관련 2023년 8월 SK E&S(에스케이이엔에스)와 수소모빌리티 도시 조성을 위한 업무협약을 체결해 액화수소 충전인프라를 구축하고 2027년까지 수소버스 300대 이상을 보급하기로 했다.

대화버스공영차고지에 설치될 액화수소충전소는 민간투자사업으로, 국비 70억 원, SK E&S(에스케이이엔에스) 40억 원 등 총 110억 원이 투자되고 고양시는 충전소 부지를 제공한다.
현재 고양시에는 민간업체가 운영하는 2곳의 액화수소충전소가 있지만 2024년에 2곳, 2026년에 1곳을 추가 설치 할 예정이다.
이는 고양시 전체 수소 차량이 약 397대인 것을 감안할 때 적지 않은 수준이다.

또한 올해 민·기업·공공기관 등에 수소 승용차 125대에 대한 구매보조금을 지급하여 친환경 자동차의 보급을 촉진할 계획이다.
