윤석열 대통령이 28일 고 육영수 여사 생가를 방문해 "어려운 분들과 어린이를 사랑해주신 육영수 여사님 어진 뜻을 기억하며 국민을 따뜻하게 살피겠다"고 적었다고 대통령실이 전했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오전 충북 옥천군 소재 고 육여사 생가를 찾아 방명록에 이같이 적었다고 김수경 대통령실 대변인이 오후 서면브리핑에서 전했다.
윤 대통령은 영전에 헌화·묵념으로 예를 표한 후 현지 해설사 안내로 생가를 둘러봤다.
참배를 마친 윤 대통령은 "어릴 적 육영수 여사가 세운 남산어린이회관에 가기도 했다"며 어린이 등 이웃들을 배려했던 고인의 생애를 기렸다.
윤 대통령은 환영나온 주민들과 일일이 악수하며 인사를 나눈 후 꽃다발을 전달한 어린이 남매와 함께 기념 촬영을 했다.
윤 대통령의 육여사 생가 방문은 지난 대선 경선후보 시절이던 2021년 8월 이후 두 번째이자 현직 대통령으로선 처음이라고 김 대변인이 전했다.
이날 방문엔 이상민 행정안전부 장관·김영환 충북지사·황규철 옥천군수·대통령실 참모진 등이 함께 했다.
