파주소방서는 지속적으로 발생하는 쓰레기 화재를 예방하기 위해 의용소방대와 함께하는 ‘안전 환경의 날’ 캠페인을 매월 1회 연중 운영한다고 19일 밝혔다.
최근 5년간 파주 내에서 발생한 쓰레기 화재는 총 174건으로 전체 화재(1,800건)의 9.7%의 비율을 2차지하고 있으며, 그 중 담뱃불·라이터불에 의한 화재 발생이 가장 높은 것으로 확인됐다.

이 캠페인은 쓰레기 적치 등으로 화재 위험이 높은 공공장소를 매월 2개소씩 순차적으로 추진할 계획이며, 이날은 문산 자유시장과 중앙시장 주변으로 의용소방대원 10여명이 2시간 동안 활동했다.
