[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 함양군은 함양 여재각이 경상남도 문화유산으로 지정 고시됨에 따라 도지정문화재문화재자료로 5월 2일 자로 지정됐다고 밝혔다.

함양군 수동면 우명리 265에 위치한 함양 여재각은 일두 정여창을 비롯해 선조와 후손들의 묘제를 모시기 위해 묘소 인근에 세운 재실로 조선 후기 19세기 초 재사 건축물로서 역사, 문화, 건축적으로 높은 가치를 갖고 있다.

또한, 조선 성리학의 대가인 일두 정여창의 묘제를 모시고 있어 그 의미가 더욱 깊다.

여재각은 1819년 초창됐으며 건축적 특징으로 정면 5칸, 측면 1칸 반 규모의 팔작지붕 건물로 중앙에 대청을 두고 그 좌우에 온돌방을 들인 형태이다.

진병영 함양군수는 “앞으로 경상남도와 협력해 문화유산을 체계적으로 보존·관리하고 활용할 수 있는 방안을 마련해 문화재의 가치가 더 확산할 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것”이라고 전했다.
