파주시청 광장 주차장, 새단장 마치고 전면 개방

파주시가 시청광장 주차장 확장공사를 마무리하고 7월부터 전면 개방했다.

시는 시민 편의 증진을 위해 시청광장에 주차구역 37면을 확충하고, 시민들이 쉬어갈 수 있는 휴게공간을 조성했다.

시는 지난 4월 주차장 확장공사에 들어가 6월 말 공사를 완료했다.

이번 확장공사는 이용자의 이용 편의 강화에 중점을 두고 진행됐다.

기존 2.3m 폭의 주차구획을 현행 기준에 맞춰 2.5m로 늘려 주차 편의를 높였고, 조경 공간에 보행로, 앉음 벽, 벤치를 설치해 시민들의 휴게공간을 마련했다.

이번 확장공사로 37면의 주차면이 확대됨에 따라 1일 약 200대의 입출차량을 추가로 소화할 수 있게 됐다.

아울러 시청 전면부에 마련된 조경 공간은 보행로, 앉음 벽 등이 어우러져 도심 속 작은 공원의 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

이학현 회계과장은 "시민들의 협조 덕분에 큰 사고 없이 예정대로 공사를 마칠 수 있었다"라며 "주차장 이용에 불편함이 없도록 유지관리에 힘쓰겠다“라고 말했다.[파주=박정호 기자]
