의왕시 용화사, 백중 맞아 ‘사랑의 쌀’ 300kg 기부

대한불교조계종 의왕시 용화사(주지 덕홍스님)가 지난 8월 18일 백중을 맞아 지역의 어려운 이웃들을 돕고자 정성을 모아 백미 300kg(10kg/30포)을 내손1동 주민센터에 기부했다.

우란분절(백중, 음력 7월 15일)은 부처님오신날, 출가절, 성도절, 열반절과 함께 불교의 5대 명절 중 하나로, 부모와 조상들의 은혜를 기리는 행사다.

덕홍스님은 “백중의 참된 의미를 새기며 앞으로도 어려운 이웃을 돕는데 함께 하겠다”고 전했다.

김형준 내손1동장은 “크고 작은 행사 때마다 지역사회에 펼쳐주시는 따뜻한 후원에 감사드리며, 기부해 주신 쌀은 도움이 필요한 이웃에게 잘 전달하겠다”고 말했다.

Uiwang-si Yonghwasa Temple Donates 300kg of ‘Love Rice’ to Baekjung

On August 18, Uiwang-si Yonghwasa Temple (Chief Monk Deokhong) of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism donated 300kg (10kg/30 bags) of white rice to the Naeson 1-dong Community Center to help needy neighbors in the region on Baekjung.

Ullanbunjeol (Baekjung, 15th day of the 7th lunar month) is one of the five major Buddhist holidays along with Buddha’s Birthday, Chugajeol, Seongdojeol, and Nirvanajeol, and is an event to honor the grace of parents and ancestors.

Deokhong said, “We will continue to help needy neighbors by engraving the true meaning of Baekjung.”
