이랜드문화재단이 중국의 수묵 거장 3인의 특별전을 여는 등 한·중 문화교류에 적극적으로 나서고 있다.
이랜드문화재단은 경기도 파주 헤이리 예술마을에 위치한 ‘이랜드 갤러리 헤이리’에서 8월 31일부터 10월 26일까지 ‘중국 현대미술’ 시리즈 전시와 연계 프로젝트를 선보인다고 8월 29일 밝혔다.
‘이랜드 갤러리 헤이리’에서는 ‘The Great Neighbors: 중국 거장 3인전’, ‘Dear Neighbors: 중국 화가 12인전’, ‘HABITAT project: 이랜드 갤러리 2평 프로젝트’를 동시에 만나볼 수 있다.
‘중국 거장 3인전’은 ‘이랜드 갤러리 헤이리 A관’에서 감상할 수 있다. 이랜드그룹이 중국에 진출한 1990년대부터 인연을 맺은 치우더수(仇德树), 량취엔(梁铨), 장바오린(姜宝林) 등 현대 수묵 거장 3인 관련 컬렉션이 국내 최초로 공개된다.
전통적인 수묵화 형식을 탈피해 현대적인 관점에서 다양한 실험과 시도를 통해 자신만의 형식을 구축한 거장들의 대표작을 만나볼 수 있다.
‘이랜드 갤러리 헤이리 B관’에서 공개되는 <‘중국 화가 12인전’은 중국 현대 및 동시대 회화의 다양한 경향을 살펴볼 수 있는 전시다. 1930년대생 중국 원로 서양화가 티에양(铁扬)의 1960년대 초기 작품부터 1990년대생 젊은 아티스트의 최신 작품까지 만나볼 수 있다.
‘이랜드 갤러리 2평 프로젝트’는 한국에 거주하는 중국의 젊은 아티스트 10인에게 두 달간 임시 창작공간을 지원하는 프로젝트. 개인 작업공간을 마련하기 어려운 유학생들에게 유휴 공간인 ‘이랜드갤러리 헤이리 영화 창작 스튜디오’를 제공하고, 성장과 발전을 염원하는 메시지를 전한다.
이랜드문화재단 관계자는 “1990년대부터 이어온 이랜드그룹의 중국 문화예술 후원 활동을 회고하며 이번 전시를 기획했다“며, “고정관념과 편견을 전복하고, 세상을 바라보는 시각을 바꾸기 위해 고민한 중국 미술가의 작품을 국내 최초로 만나볼 수 있는 기회”라고 설명했다.
한편, 이번 시리즈 전시는 중국 중앙 미술학원(CAFA)과 칭화대학교에서 중국 현대미술 이론을 전공한 조혜정 성신여자대학교 초빙교수가 총괄 기획을 맡았다.
Eland Cultural Foundation Presents 'Contemporary Chinese Art' Series

Eland Culture Foundation is actively engaging in cultural exchanges between Korea and China, including a special exhibition of three Chinese ink masters.
On August 29, Eland Cultural Foundation announced that it will present a series of exhibitions and related projects on 'Chinese Contemporary Art' from August 31 to October 26 at 'Eland Gallery Heiri' located in Heiri Art Village in Paju, Gyeonggi-do.
'The Great Neighbors: Three Chinese Masters', 'Dear Neighbors: Twelve Chinese Painters', and 'HABITAT project: Eland Gallery 2Pyeong' will be on display at 'Eland Gallery Heiri' at the same time.
'Three Chinese Masters' can be viewed at 'IRAND Gallery Hayley A'. For the first time in Korea, a collection of three contemporary ink masters, Qiu Dexu, Liang Quan, and Zhang Baolin, who have been associated with Eland Group since the 1990s, when the company entered China, will be on display.
The works of these masters, who broke away from the traditional format of ink painting and established their own style through various experiments and attempts from a modern perspective, will be on display.
'12 Chinese Painters', which will be held at 'Eland Gallery Hayley B', is an exhibition that explores various trends in Chinese modern and contemporary painting. The works range from the early 1960s by Tie Yang, an elderly Chinese Western artist born in the 1930s, to the latest works by younger artists born in the 1990s.
The 'Eland Gallery 2Pyeong Project' is a project that provides temporary creative space for 10 young Chinese artists living in Korea for two months. The 'Eland Gallery Hayley Film Creation Studio' provides an idle space for international students who have difficulty finding a personal workspace, and sends a message of growth and development.
An official from Eland Culture Foundation said, “We organized this exhibition as a retrospective of Eland Group's sponsorship of Chinese culture and arts since the 1990s,” adding, “This is the first opportunity in Korea to see the works of Chinese artists who have struggled to overthrow stereotypes and prejudices and change the way they view the world.”
The series of exhibitions is curated by Sungshin Women's University Visiting Professor Cho Hye-jung, who studied Chinese contemporary art theory at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) and Tsinghua University.
