이번 준공식에는 주낙영 경주시장, 이동협 경주시의장을 포함해 시·도의원 및 지역주민 등 300여명이 참석했다.
‘구곡지 친수공간’은 경주시 용강동 구곡지 일대 1만 5000㎡ 부지에 습지공간, 조깅트랙, 목교, 수변산책로 등을 조성하는 사업으로 총 사업비 24억원이 투입됐다.
‘구곡지 친수공간’ 조성 사업은 지난 2019년 11월부터 주민설명회와 관련부서 협의를 시작으로 본격화됐다. 이후 2022년 9월 실시설계를 완료하고, 같은 해 10월부터 공사에 나섰다.
주요 시설물은 길이 176m 너비 3.6m 규모 타원형 조깅 트랙, 길이 650m 너비 2m 황토 산책로와 운동시설과 파고라 등이다. 또 이용객들의 편의를 위해 주차장과 공용 화장실도 들어섰다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “앞으로도 구곡지 친수공간과 같은 도심속 쉼터를 추가로 조성해 시민들이 도심 속에서도 웰빙을 누릴 수 있도록 행정력을 집중하겠다”고 말했다.
