세종시의회, "세종의사당 예정 부지 방문 환영"

세종시의회는 27일 우원식 국회의장과 국회세종의사당 건립위원회가 세종의사당 예정부지를 방문하고, 간담회를 가진 것에 대해 환영의 뜻을 나타냈다.

이날 임채성 세종시의장은 “그동안 많은 분의 헌신과 노력 덕분에 세종시가 정치·행정수도로 꾸준히 성장해 왔다”며, “지난 26일 세종지방법원 설치 법률안이 국회 본회의를 통과하고 세종시민이 오랫동안 염원해 온 국회세종의사당 건립도 빠르게 진행되고 있는 등 그동안 노력해 온 것들이 하나씩 성과를 내어 기쁘다”고 말했다.

임 의장은 “이번 우원식 국회의장과 국회세종의사당 건립위의 예정부지 방문은 세종시가 정치·행정수도로 나아가는 것을 넘어, 국가균형발전이라는 세종시 탄생의 핵심 가치를 실현하는 데 있어서 의미 있는 발걸음”이라고 평가했다.

이어 “국회세종의사당 건립은 수도권 집중의 문제를 해결하고, 저출생, 지방소멸의 문제를 극복하는 중요한 계기가 될 것”이라며 “대한민국이 직면한 여러 위기 극복을 위해서라도 국회 세종시대가 조속히 열릴 수 있도록 조기 완공에 힘을 모아야 한다”라고 강조했다.

한편, 세종시의회 임채성 의장을 비롯한 시의원들은 오전에 개최된 제2차 건립위원회 회의가 열린 세종컨벤션센터와 예정부지를 방문해 우 국회의장과 건립위원들과 함께 했다.

이어 임 의장은 예정부지 방문 후에 세종컨벤션센터에서 국회의장 주재로 열린 오후 국회세종의사당 건립 간담회에 참석했다.
