종합외식기업 다이닝브랜즈그룹은 자사에서 운영하는 bhc 치킨 대학생 봉사단이 쪽방촌 주민을 위한 봉사활동에 나섰다고 10월 2일 전했다.
다이닝브랜즈그룹에 따르면 bhc 치킨 대학생 봉사단 8기 2조는 최근 서울 용산구 동자동의 쪽방촌 주민들에게 생활에 필요한 각종 지원 물품을 담은 사랑의 나눔박스를 전달했다고 한다. 이번 봉사활동은 서울역쪽방상담소와 연계하여 진행해 그 의미를 더했다는 설명이다.
bhc 치킨은 지난 2017년부터 대학생 봉사단을 운영 중이며, 현재 8기 단원들이 활동을 이어가고 있다. 대학생 봉사단은 1년 동안 월 2회씩 단원들이 직접 기획한 내용으로 지역 사회 곳곳에 도움이 필요한 곳을 찾아 지속적으로 봉사활동을 펴고 있다.
이날 봉사 단원들은 두루마리 휴지, 커피믹스, 벌레기피제 등 다양한 생활용품을 담은 나눔박스를 정성껏 포장하는 것으로 봉사를 시작했으며, 서울역쪽방상담소 ‘온기 창고’에 총 30개의 물품 박스를 전달했다. 후원품은 기관을 통해 쪽방촌 이웃들에 추후 전달될 예정이다.
봉사활동에 참여한 박요선 단원은 “취약계층 어르신들께 작은 보탬이 되길 바라는 마음으로 기부 물품을 준비했다”며 “봉사 내내 마음의 온기가 느껴져 함께 하는 사회적 가치를 되새길 수 있던 값진 시간”이라고 소감을 전했다.
bhc 치킨 관계자는 “어려울 때일수록 도움이 필요한 곳에 소중한 마음을 전달하는 것이 중요하다”며 “앞으로도 bhc 치킨은 지역사회에 온기를 나누고, 약자와의 동행을 통해 기업의 사회적 책임을 다할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

On Oct. 2, Dining Brands Group, an integrated restaurant company, announced that the BHC Chicken University Student Volunteer Group, which is operated by the company, has begun volunteering for the residents of a squatter village.
According to Dining Brands Group, the 8th BHC Chicken University Student Volunteer Group recently delivered a love sharing box containing various support items needed for daily life to residents of a squatter village in Dongdaemun, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The volunteer service was conducted in conjunction with the Seoul Station Shack Counseling Center, the company said.
BHC Chicken has been running a college student volunteer program since 2017, and the eighth group of volunteers is currently in place. The college student volunteer group continues to carry out volunteer activities twice a month for a year, with the contents planned by the members themselves, to find places in need in the local community.
On this day, the volunteers began their service by carefully packing boxes containing various household items such as scroll tissues, coffee mixes, and bug repellents, and delivered a total of 30 boxes of goods to the 'Onggi Warehouse' at the Seoul Station Counseling Center. The donated items will be delivered to the neighbors of the squatters' village through the organization.
“We prepared the donated items with the hope that they would make a small contribution to the vulnerable elderly,” said Park Yo-sun, a member of the volunteer team. ”We felt warmth in our hearts throughout the service, and it was a valuable time to reflect on the social value of working together.”
A representative from BHC Chicken said, “In times of difficulty, it is important to deliver our precious hearts to those in need.” “BHC Chicken will continue to share warmth with the community and fulfill our corporate social responsibility by accompanying the weak,” he added.
