12일 처인구 삼가동 용인미르스타디움 보조경기장에서 열린 처인구 중앙동ㆍ유림동ㆍ역북동ㆍ삼가동ㆍ동부동 체육회가 함께 주관한 이날 행사에는 이상일 시장을 비롯해 5개 동 체육회장 등 민간단체장, 주민 등 750명이 참여했다.
이 시장은 행사장을 찾아 체육대회를 축하하고, 5개 동민 화합의 장을 마련한 관계자들에게 고마움을 전했다.
이 시장은 “5개 동이 함께 모여서 단합된 모습을 보여주고 서로 정을 나누고 우의를 다지는 행사는 처음 열리는 것이라고 들었는데 5개 동 주민이 아주 훌륭한 모델을 만들고 계신 것이라고 생각한다”며 “체육대회를 준비해 주신 5개 동 체육회와 적극 참여해 주신 각 단체와 시민들께 감사인사를 드린다”고 말했다.
